New RollerCoaster Tycoon World Information

Atari has updated the RollerCoaster Tycoon website and the RollerCoaster Tycoon World steam page. This revealed some interesting new information about the game. This is all likely ahead of the release date announcement coming in September and a new production dev blog.

The steam page contains an updated summary of features including new features. The have now announced there is off the grid free placement in the game. This means you can place objects anywhere you want. But for classic players there is still the grid placement known from previous games. There is now also a brush, but it’s unknown if it can be used for other things than trees.

The page also reveals the game will support terrain editing tools, including the ability to place water. If this allows RollerCoaster to go underground and into mountains is still unclear, but let’s hope this will be the case. Another reveal is that the game will have multiple maps, we have seen this earlier in screenshots where the background scenery is different, but this is now actually confirmed.

The release date also got a slight change, it is now set for Q4 of 2015 instead of just 2015. This means the game will still come out this year. UGC at launch was announced in a production blog earlier but the page now also reveals the tool is likely in-game and is supported by 3D programs that support Unity. This is likely a similar tool as we can find in Cities Skylines and other games.

Atari also gave the website a overhaul. The look overall has changed, but the mean theme of the website is now RollerCoaster Tycoon world. The information page for RollerCoaster Tycoon also has been updated with new information. It contains the same summary as the steam page. But it also contains the languages supported by the game and not to miss, that the game won’t just be available for Windows. The game will also launch on Linux and SteamOS. No word on OS X support yet. That might come later.

What feature of RollerCoaster Tycoon World are you looking forward to the most? Or is there some other feature you would like in RollerCoaster Tycoon World?
